Learn About Tile
Tile comes in all shapes, colors, and sizes. Find out what kind of tile works best for your project.
PORCELAIN
The most durable tile material, porcelain is ideal for floors, walls, countertops and more. These tiles come in a wide array of shades and colors, finishes, and sizes. Porcelain is common in both residential homes and commercial installations. This product may come glazed, or with through-body coloring that extends below the tile’s surface. Many are freeze/thaw rated for exterior conditions, and feature excellent non-slip surface texture.
CERAMIC
A versatile and well-known type of tile, ceramic is suitable for wall, and countertop applications. Ceramics are classified by the conditions they can withstand, and are often not rated for the outdoors. Ceramic tile is a glazed product, and may come in gloss, matte, or textured finishes
NATURAL STONE
Natural stone tiles include marble, granite, travertine, slate, limestone, and onyx. These stones are quarried from the earth and vary in color, tone, texture, and veining. Regular use of sealers and stone-approved cleansers is recommended to maintain the beauty and durability of your installation. Please see our Setting Materials page for information on available sealers and cleansers.
GLASS, METAL, MOSAICS & DECOS
Decorative tiles add the finishing touch to any space! Many are mounted on mesh sheets, making installation easier for contractors and DIY-ers. Liners, listellos, and accent dots may come as loose pieces, and can be used to trim or fill a plain field of tiles. Colors, prints, finishes, and sizes are nearly endless!
